We were in Vegas so we had to find a race! This one used recycled bibs and medals from previous races, so we had running skirts and tops we made from recycled race shirts.  It was a perfect morning, I ran a 45:14 (slightly short course) and was first woman overall.

Beautiful race on the door county peninsula, fall colors and great weather.  I ran a 1:45:23, which I was quite happy with.

Grand Canyon Rim 2 Rim
Grand Canyon, AZ – 10/11/21

Not a race, but an epic day nonetheless. I ran from the north rim of the Grand Canyon, down to the Colorado River, and then hiked up the other side to the south rim.  25 miles and it took about 6 and a half hours moving time (8-9 hours with stops and photos).  An amazing experience.

Ziegler Wine 5k
Fond du Lac, Wisconsin – 9/25/21

It was my wife’s 65th birthday and I ran/walked the 5K with her and then we had wine!

Ironman 70.3 World Championships
St George, Utah – 9/18/21

Just a crazy race. Rain, wind, hail, and then some heat on the run. And hills. Lots of hills. I’d trained a long time for this one, and it blew up pretty spectacularly on the run.  Ended up walking a good portion of the last 10 miles, and had the longest half iron time of my career, 6:25:22. I did get to high five my mom as I ran down the finish chute and she was cheering me.

Sputnikfest 5k
Manitowoc, Wisconsin – 9/11/21

Fun little 5k I ran with my wife. We wore Jane and Judy Jetson costumes to be part of the space theme.

A warm race, but I felt like I did well. Finished 15th in my age group against some really fast women. 2:29:45 total time.

Crazy hilly but pretty race on the island, I ran it in a War of 1812 soldier costume. 37:58, and third woman overall.

St George Ironman 70.3
St George, UT – 5/1/21

Travelled to southern Utah for the first big race in a long time. It was a hot day (92 degrees in the afternoon!) and a very challenging course. I didn’t do as well as I hoped, but it was still quite an experience. My final time was 5:58:57, and 10th in my age group.
